Entries open for VIBES Transport Award

Date: 23/5/2013
Entries are now being accepted for the (VIBES) Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland 2013 Transport Award, which recognises firms that implement sustainable practices in a bid to reduce their carbon footprint.Last year's prize was won by Lothian Buses in Edinburgh, with the company hailed for improving the efficiency of its vehicles.
Indeed, the firm secured the award for reducing carbon emissions and cutting noise and air pollution from its buses - a factor which means its fleet is helping Scotland to meet its 2020 targets for carbon reduction.
The Energy Saving Trust in Scotland is sponsoring the prize, and the organisation's Manager for Scottish transport, Ian Murdoch, praised the efforts of businesses that attempt to reduce fuel consumption through using more efficient transport models.
"By sponsoring the VIBES Transport Award 2013 we are supporting businesses that adopt effective environmental practices," he explained, adding that it can be tough to find a "universal solution" to operating an efficient vehicle fleet.
