Father urges young drivers to heed police advice

Date: 10/9/2010
Young people can help save lives by making small adjustments to their driving, according to a father who lost his son in a car accident.Donald Cowie opened a road safety event in Deeside last night (September 9th) in memory of his 18-year-old boy Euan, who died in May, the Aberdeen Press and Journal reported.
He said he hopes young drivers will listen to the safety advice issued by police.
"The message I would like to get across is that the police would rather speak to young drivers as a group than at the scene of an accident," Mr Cowie continued.
He added just making slight changes to driving behaviour can help save lives.
David Trigger, also at the event and whose daughter was killed in a road accident two years ago, stated he wants to tell youngsters about his experience in the hope it will sink in.
Ahead of the Young Driver Road Show yesterday, PC Raymond Neil of Grampian Police's road safety unit spoke of the importance of reaching as many people as possible with its message.
