Fewer rail replacement buses required this Easter

Date: 6/3/2012
Planned improvement work to the UK's rail network will be less disruptive this Easter bank holiday than it has been in previous years. This is according to Network Rail, which explained this means there will also be fewer replacement buses in operation as many services will run normally.
Some improvement projects have been brought forward, as the organisation does not want there to be any disruption when the Olympic Games kick off in London on July 27th.
However, engineers will be working both day and night to renovate stations and repair bridges, causing as little hassle to passengers as possible.
Network Rail's Managing Director of Network Operations Robin Gisby said: "This will be the model for the years ahead as we invest heavily to build a bigger, better railway and support Britain's economic growth."
At the end of last month, the group announced it will lay two 775m loops that will run parallel to the existing cross-country Felixstowe to Nuneaton track near Ely station in a bid to improve rail freight transportation in the UK.
