Finalists of World Car Awards announced

Date: 4/3/2011

The 2011 World Car Awards finalists have been revealed and the Nissan LEAF has made it to the last three in two of the categories.

Nissan's LEAF has been named as a finalist in both the 2011 World Green Car and the 2011 World Car of the Year groups.

In the green competition it faces the Chevrolet Volt and the BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Edition, while its Car of the Year rivals are the BMW 5 Series and the Audi A8.

Meanwhile, the Porsche 911 Turbo is up against the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and the Ferrari 458 Italia for the 2011 World Performance Car.

Launched in January 2004, the World Car Awards strive to recognise excellence in the automobile sector and work alongside existing car of the year schemes.

The latest vehicles are currently on display at the 81st Geneva International Motor Show, which opened yesterday (March 3rd) and runs until March 13th.
