Fire crews urged to get involved with Road Safety Week

Date: 13/7/2010
Organisers of Road Safety Week have urged fire and rescue services to get involved in the initiative to highlight the need for slower speeds to stop fatalities on the roads. This year's event will take place from November 22nd until November 28th and the theme is Kids Say Slow Down.
Deputy chief executive of Brake Julie Townsend said Road Safety Week is the perfect chance for those involved with road safety to link up with national establishments and make the UK's roads safer.
"We really value the involvement of fire services in the week, this year we are urging them to help to spread the message about the appalling carnage caused by speed," she added.
Last month, Brake sent resource packs to teachers in schools across the UK so they can give children ideas on how youngsters and their families can do their bit to boost road safety.
