Firms 'increasingly aware' of employee road safety

Firms 'increasingly aware' of employee road safety

Date: 18/11/2011

Many businesses are placing an increased emphasis on driver safety when using company vehicles, it has been revealed.

Ultimate Car Control UK pointed out that, according to figures from the Department for Transport, a third of road traffic accidents involve a company-owned vehicle or motor being driven for work purposes.

Although a growing number of enterprises are focusing on driver training as part of their risk management strategies, many smaller firms are unaware of regulations they must follow when it comes to business cars.

Ultimate Car Control has therefore launched the UltimateCare safety programme in a bid to educate companies about legislation.

Former British Touring Car Champion and Founder of Ultimate Car Control Robb Gravett said businesses often "need assistance in understanding fully what the law requires them to do and completing the [safety compliance] process."

Employers have a duty of care towards workers who drive company cars and they should ensure the motors are in good mechanical condition.
