Ford: Econo Check could save motorists cash

Ford: Econo Check could save motorists cash

Date: 8/6/2010

Ford has launched a new Econo Check service in a bid to help consumers reduce their fuels bills by around a quarter.

The package includes an examination of all the components that influence fuel use.

A technician will also analyse a motorist's style of driving and offer advice on methods that will be more fuel efficient by fitting a data logger to the vehicle for seven days, which will then give details on braking, gear change and driving speed.

Tyre pressure will be looked at, as will the condition of the oil and air filters.

According to Ford, the programme will save people around £470 a year or for every 12,000 miles the average motorist drives.

Customer Service Director Andy Barratt remarked: "Ford is first in offering an Econo Check to so many owners, almost regardless of their vehicles' age."

The manufacturer has a number of systems in place to increase its sustainability and wind turbines are used to supply electricity to the Dagenham site that houses its state-of-the art diesel centre.
