FTA offers new driving guide

Date: 29/4/2010

The Freight Transport Association (FTA) has launched an updated version of its guide for international road transport as part of an effort to ensure that all laws are adhered to and safety risks are kept to a minimum.

The new guide covers an expanded list of countries when compared to the old publication, and offers information on issues such as weekend lorry bans and toll prices.

FTA International manager and editor of the guide Don Armour said: "International road transport operators are often faced with a confusing array of local and national guidelines that they do not encounter in the UK."

He noted that such restrictions included emissions-linked city centre banks, local weight restrictions and different processes and penalties for tachograph or driver hours infringements.

Earlier this month, the FTA confirmed the launch of its new online tachograph reporting suite, designed to help manage driver hours and tachograph compliance.
