Fuel price hike announced by govt

Date: 22/3/2012
The government will increase the cost of fuel for motorists this summer, it has been revealed.Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne made the announcement in his Budget speech yesterday (March 21st), stating the price will go up by 3.02p per litre.
Discussing the matter, GEM Motoring Assist said the change could lead to road safety issues as drivers try to cut corners to save fuel.
Chief Executive Officer of the organisation David Williams MBE urged people to adopt a more energy-efficient way of driving to help reduce the cost of motoring in the future.
"We believe there are simple, yet effective, steps motorists can take to ensure the fuel they pay for goes as far as possible," he stated.
The group advised people to reduce their average speed and check their tyre pressure regularly.
Also discussing the matter, Managing Director of Motorpoint David Shelton said his organisation is disappointed by the government's decision, as the cost of motoring is already too high.
