GE and Nissan 'team up for electric future'

A three-year memorandum of understanding has been signed by Nissan and GE, stating that the two companies will work together to explore new technologies needed for the development of a reliable and dynamic smart charging infrastructure to allow for more effective use of electric vehicles.The two companies will work together to find ways to enable a transition to the more widespread use of electric vehicles.
Shunichi Toyomasu, corporate vice-president at the Nissan Motor Company, said that the manufacturer's vision is to reach a zero-emission mobility environment.
"Working with GE, we expect this joint research project will provide insight for the home/building and electric grid connections which support [the] electric vehicle," he said.
Two main areas of work are to focus on the integration of electric vehicles with homes and buildings, and the charging dynamics of such vehicles across the electricity grid.
Nissan's latest electric vehicle, the LEAF, is due to be released later this year.
