Government launches new road safety evaluation website

Date: 7/12/2010
The Department for Transport (DfT) has launched a new website in conjunction with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) to help road safety specialists better evaluate their practices. In order to assess their education, training and publicity activities, practitioners can use an online tool named E-valu-it, which helps to define exactly what they are doing and why, as well as promoting the publication and sharing of results.
Road Safety Minister Mike Penning said the website will help local authorities "design high quality schemes and target them where they will have the most impact."
Kevin Clinton, Head of Road Safety at the RoSPA, added it will be beneficial for councils to share information, as "road safety practitioners have much to learn from each other" about both interventions that have and have not been successful.
The DfT also created a new partnership with the Sunderland AFC Foundation recently in a bid to improve road safety awareness among school children.
