Green cars to be showcased in Geneva

A number of automakers are set to unveil their latest environmentally-friendly vehicles at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show next month.BMW Group has announced that the event will act as the world premiere of its new ActiveE - the second electric test vehicle to be created by the manufacturer.
Based on its BMW 1 Series Coupe, an electric synchronous motor has been included in the design to power the vehicle from zero to 60 mph in nine seconds, along with delivering 168 horse power, with a top speed of 90 mph.
Three large energy storage units containing lithium-ion cells replace the traditional engine block, transmission and fuel tank.
Meanwhile, Honda will be displaying its EV Concept electric vehicle at the motoring event, alongside a platform for mid size plug-in hybrid cars.
It will also be showing off the revised Accord range as part of its Road to Zero Emissions concept.
And Nissan has also chosen the Geneva show to unveil the ESFLOW - an electric sports car to follow the award-winning family vehicle, LEAF.
