Green vehicle market 'will be driven by cost'

Date: 13/12/2010
The potential financial savings offered by green cars will be the key driver in their adoption, it is predicted.A representative of the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership claimed the move towards eco-friendly models will be as a result of cost incentives rather than environmental concerns.
"Fuel savings are going to be the most important feature for most people", head of communications Neil Wallis explained, adding the range of financial incentives for adopting such motors is broad and will be the element that persuades most people to switch to more eco-friendly technology.
He pointed out the case for choosing low-carbon cars "is only going to get more compelling."
Mr Wallis's comments echo a study by Carbuzz.co.uk showing low carbon dioxide emissions are the least important factor for those buying a new vehicle, while price topped the table followed by number of seats, fuel economy and whether or not it is fun to drive.
