Honda Civic receives top safety rating

Date: 22/2/2012

The Honda Civic has received Euro NCAP's maximum rating for safety.

It was awarded five stars in the independent crash testing results, which judge the motor's overall performance in an easy-to-understand format.

The score takes into account things such as levels of occupant and child protection, the availability of driver aids and protection provided to pedestrians.

Many specialist features are included on the Honda Civic, including the manufacturer's Collision Mitigation Brake System, which uses radar technology to apply emergency braking in a bid to prevent collisions.

All models feature driver and passenger front and side airbags as well as full-length curtain airbags and three-point emergency locking retractor seatbelts.

"The new Civic's top safety rating and Advanced NCAP reward reflect Honda's commitment to overall vehicle safety," the company stated.

Last year, Honda launched its new Earth Dreams Technology engines, with which it wants to become a market leader in the use of eco-friendly technology.
