Date: 30/11/2011
A new environmentally-friendly engine range is being rolled out by Honda.Speaking at the Tokyo Motor Show today (November 30th), President and Chief Executive Officer of the organisation Takanobu Ito announced the launch of Earth Dreams Technology.
This is a new generation of engines through which Honda will attempt to become the number one manufacturer in terms of fuel economy.
The first engine to be launched in Europe will be a 1.6-litre diesel installed in the company's new Civic vehicle.
Its CO2 emissions are less than 100g/km and it is lighter than all other machines in its category.
According to Honda, the engine has also established the right balance between performance and fuel economy - something a growing number of motorists will no doubt be looking for from their vehicles.
The Japanese company not the only firm looking to make its vehicles more environmentally-friendly, as Jaguar Land Rover recently won the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders' 2011 award for automotive innovation for its prototype Range_e - a luxury plug-in hybrid electric 4x4 motor.
