Improved access project at Haymarket station 'will be completed ahead of schedule'

Upgrade work at Edinburgh's Haymarket station is to be completed almost one year early, Transport Scotland has revealed.As part of the project, a total of £1.5 million is to be invested in improved passenger access to the station including two new lifts.
Work on the improvements will start next month, with the two lifts likely to be installed by the end of the year.
A total of £2.25 million is also to be invested in Glasgow's Queen Street station, with six new automatic ticket gates to be installed.
Two new escalators will also be opened at the station next summer.
The improvements are being funded by First ScotRail as part of their franchise agreement with Transport Scotland.
Franchise projects and investment manager at Transport Scotland Dougie Andrews commented: "We are delighted to see this £3.75 million investment for access improvements at Haymarket and Queen Street stations going ahead, and the early delivery date scheduled for Haymarket will be welcome news for all groups who have asked for these enhancements."
Transport Scotland has also revealed today (March 2nd) that the new Mollinsburn Overbridge over the M73 has been completed.
