Industry experts meet at Westminster to discuss eco cars

Date: 9/12/2010

Industry experts are meeting to discuss the use of eco cars and low-carbon technologies at Westminster.

The gathering aims to boost the work being carried out to help support the UK government's aspiration to become a leading low-carbon economy.

Both Houses of Parliament comprise the All-Party Parliamentary Motor Group (APMG) and members are to discuss the Automotive Council's technology roadmap and the possibilities of developing ultra-low carbon vehicles.

Richard Burden, Chairman of the APMG, said: "Both the previous and current governments have highlighted the importance of continuing the momentum in low-carbon technology and developing ground-breaking solutions that provide increasingly fuel efficient vehicles."

He added delivering the industry's technology roadmap is an opportunity to make the global automotive industry see how attractive a location the UK really is.

It follows news that changes to European Union regulations governing emissions from vehicles are due to come into force from January 1st 2011.
