Jordan announces road master plan

Date: 6/11/2009
Jordan's roads will be redeveloped over the next 15 years under a "new master plan" unveiled on Thursday by government officials.
The Ministry of Public Works and Housing minister Alaa Batayneh oversaw the first Consultive Steering Committee for the Jordan Highway Master Plan, said a Zawya report.
The plans are meant to develop roads coherently and consistently with the other transport models used for the country's sea, rail and air operations.
Under the plan, all of the Kingdom's major roads would be targeted for work over the next 15 years.
A detailed study is being put together to outline the three development phases to 2015, 2020, and 2025.
The study is jointly-funded out of grants from the European Commission and European Investment Bank.
