Kia gets ready for Road Safety Week with walking scheme

Date: 17/11/2011

A walking initiative has been launched by Kia Motors UK ahead of the upcoming Road Safety Week.

Using its Walking Bus Scheme, the enterprise hopes to encourage people to walk their children to school in a safe way, instead of always taking their car.

Through the programme, Kia has led more than 15,000 youngsters to use their own two feet rather than relying on their parents.

Communications Director at the firm Stephen Kitson said: "We are delighted to be able to offer a scheme that not only encourages a healthier lifestyle, but also prioritises road safety for children from such a young age."

Established in 1997 by Brake, Road Safety Week will run from November 21st to 27th this year.

A spokesperson for the charity commended Kia on its efforts and said the support of such enterprises is "crucial" in making the week a success.

Road Safety Week takes place around the globe at different times of year and encourages communities to get involved in reducing accidents on their streets.
