London Overground to see increased service from December

Date: 28/10/2011
December will see an increased service on the London Overground, Transport for London has announced.??Commuters on the service will benefit from more frequent trains at peak times, evenings and weekends on certain routes, such as between Dalston Junction and Highbury and Islington, which will gain four extra trains every hour on Sundays.?
?This is an extension of the increased service that was provided in May, since the transport authority established it would be possible to add extra trains and further increase the capacity of the network. In order to ensure smooth operation, the enhanced rail network will be closely monitored.?
?Howard Smith, chief operating officer at London Rail, said: “We have been working closely with our operator, London Overground Rail Operations Limited and Network Rail to find a way to ease crowding and I am delighted that we are able to implement these services so soon.”?
?These measures come as the latest in many improvements to rail transport, with rail minister Theresa Villiers recently announcing upgrades to West Coast Main Line and East Anglia Rail Service.
