Date: 11/6/2013
Mayor of London Boris Johnson has announced that £40 million will be made available to four transport projects throughout the capital in a bid to rejuvenate existing infrastructure. The initiatives that will receive the funding are in areas where improvements are expected to result in significant economic growth, with £25 million set to go towards upgrades that will allow extra services between Northumberland Park and Tottenham Hale - as well as better links from Stratford to the Upper Lee Valley.
Enfield will receive £2.5 million to make additions to Angel Road Station and other areas, with the aim being for commuters to benefit from increased capacity on the railways.
A further £5.7 million will be spent on reducing congestion in Bexley - particularly at the Queens Road junction - while £6.5 million will fast-track road improvements in Ealing.
Mr Johnson said: "Transport links are a vital precursor to economic development.
"This money is earmarked for investment into transport schemes which have significant potential to stimulate growth and job creation."
