Mercedes-Benz F-cell heads to US on world drive

The Mercedes-Benz F-Cell is to be transported from Europe to the US in order to complete its journey around the globe.Beginning in Stuttgart, Germany on January 30th 2011, the company's World Drive has already seen three of the vehicles stop at Reims, Lyon, Barcelona and Badajoz in Portugal, demonstrating the model's low emissions.
Since then, they have travelled to Portugal's capital, Lisbon, covering 660 km each in the space of two days.
A press release said: "Every single B-Class F-Cell has travelled a total of 3,250 km during the first part of the F-Cell World Drive, not including the distances the cars covered in the course of local activities."
The cars are set to continue their journey on Friday (February 25th).
Mercedes-Benz' B-Class F-Cell was also taken out on to the road to test its environmental credentials, which was one of the first times the fuel cell was used in one of the auto manufacturer's vehicles.
