More bikes and scooters to hit the roads?

Date: 28/5/2010

Companies are being encouraged to incorporate bikes and scooters into their business.

A survey carried out on behalf of the Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCI) revealed that motorcycle support services - including couriers - add £940 million to the UK economy.

Chief Executive Officer of the MCI Steve Kenward remarked: "Economic and practical factors mean that including a bike into modern business is a sensible option."

He suggested a motorcycle or scooter can help firms move people and items around, saving time and money, along with carbon emissions.

Mr Kenward noted that motorbike taxi services have a lot of potential customers, particularly in cities.

The blood runners who transport blood on bikes free of charge have helped the NHS to save approximately £300,000 as well as saving lives across the country.

Meanwhile, motorcycle riders in the south-west have the chance to improve their skills by attending a road safety event at the Castle Comber Circuit on June 5th.
