Vehicle manufacturers continue to join with the tyre safety organisation TyreSafe, with the latest companies to sign up and help promote cautious driving revealed as Toyota and Lexus.According to the road safety firm, there are now a dozen carmakers on its books, which is helping to support an increase in the standards of tyre care and maintenance.
Stuart Jackson, Chairman of the organisation, said it was "wonderful" to receive the backing of the two brands, which could help to improve driver education and engagement with the subject of tyre safety.
Toyota is currently trialling a winter weather tyre programme in order to promote the benefits of such fixtures during the coldest months of the year.
Steve Settle, Director of Customer Services at Toyota & Lexus, said: "Despite the many innovations and technological advances that our engineers and design teams make, tyres remain one of the most critical elements affecting driver and occupant safety."
Drivers in Scotland in particular may wish to keep tyre safety in mind, after the AA claimed people in Aberdeenshire are facing "horrendous" driving conditions as a result of the snow.
