Motorists invited to winter car safety clinic

Motorists invited to winter car safety clinic

Date: 25/10/2010

Warrington motorists have been invited to attend a car clinic offering free advice on how to prepare for winter.

Road safety experts will give people advice on winter driving and show them how to perform checks on their sidelights, brake lights, windscreen wipers and tyres.

The first session is due to take place today (October 25th), with the second clinic being held on October 29th at Winwick Road Fire Station.

Lee Murphy, a Manager at Cheshire Safer Roads Partnership, told the Warrington Guardian: "Winter driving can be hazardous, but look after your vehicle and it will look after you."

It is possible to minimise the risks posed by colder weather for drivers, passengers and other road users by taking care and planning in advance, he added.

Earlier this month, the Institute of Advanced Motorists urged drivers to check the condition of their tyres ahead of the onset of weather conditions such as ice and snow, which make the roads more dangerous.
