Motorists 'looking for ways to save cash'

Date: 16/7/2010
Motorists in the UK are growing more concerned with rising fuel prices, according to a new study.A poll by Ford revealed 93 per cent of drivers are worried about the cost of petrol, but just 50 per cent have thought about adapting their driving style.
Of those quizzed, 37 per cent have swapped vehicles in a bid to save cash and 48 per cent have admitted they get behind the wheel less in order to keep costs down.
Two per cent confessed they no longer carry passengers to cut the number of times they need to fill up at the pumps.
However, the car manufacturer has created a data logger, which can record driver behaviour that can then be analysed by technicians who will advise consumers on the best ways to reduce how much they refuel.
Customer service director at Ford Andy Barratt remarked: "With fuel prices on the rise, it's timely that we're able to uniquely help Ford customers with a way to reduce their fuel bill by up to 25 per cent."
According to the AA, in June drivers in London were paying the most for unleaded petrol and those in Humberside and Yorkshire had the cheapest.
