Motorway Direct 'signs with Motor Codes'

Motorway Direct, the warranty provider, has joined with Motor Codes in a deal that is claimed to increase drivers' "peace of mind".

Under the Vehicle Warranty Products Code, the firm must pledge to uphold certain standards that go over and above those set out in law.

It will be joining several other companies currently abiding by the self-regulated Code of Practice.

Motor Codes is a government-backed self-regulatory body for the automotive industry which oversees the provision of new warranties for vehicles under its New Car and Vehicle Warranty Products Codes, in addition to providing support to some three million customers who take on products including breakdown cover.

Chris Mason, the firm's Managing Director, said: "Motor Codes represents the vast majority of this industry's major players and is working with vehicle warranty product providers to bring motorists the reassurance and peace of mind they need."

Earlier in the month, the group revealed it had received 10,000 responses to a survey designed to establish a list of the safest garages to use in the country.
