MSP raises fears over Ryder Cup transport arrangements

Date: 13/6/2013
MSP Roseanna Cunningham has expressed concerns that current transport plans for next year's Ryder Cup will cause confusion among visitors attempting to reach Gleneagles. While it has been announced that three Park and Ride facilities will be set up in Perth, Stirling and Kinross, Ms Cunningham believes such arrangements will see some people double back on their journeys in a bid to access the services.
"The information on the Ryder Cup’s official website seems to give the impression that the only means of getting to Gleneagles by bus will be from one of the three Park and Ride car parks being set up in Perth, Kinross and Stirling," she said.
The MSP added that she will be seeking a meeting with event organisers to ensure that the necessary infrastructure is in place to enable people to access Gleneagles with ease, while at the same time pushing for the introduction of local transportation measures during the Ryder Cup.
