A Sunderland mum who lost her son in a road accident is to raise awareness of the dangers youngsters face on the country's roads.Karon Hylton's 14-year-old son Daniel Evans was killed when he was hit by a car after running out behind a parked truck, the Sunderland Echo reports.
She said: "I hope it will teach both children and drivers to be more aware of each other. It's easy to make a mistake. And children do make mistakes."
Ms Hylton also noted that she will carry a photo of her son to show people how easy it is for road accidents to happen.
The mother, who is now a volunteer for road safety charity Brake, will be joined by students from Southmoor School and they will stand on Ryhope Road during Road Safety Week (RSW), with banners urging drivers to slow down so they can see children
RSW 2010 will run from November 22nd to 28th and the theme of this year's event is Kids Say Slow Down.
The initiative is organised by Brake, which provides services for victims of road traffic accidents, as well as campaigning for road safety.
