Network Rail signs new deal with HS1

Date: 26/4/2012
Network Rail has signed an agreement with HS1 to operate and maintain the UK's only high speed rail network until at least 2025.The contract will enable the two companies to offer a more efficient and high-quality service by working together, while customers will get better value for money through fare reductions.
HS1 owns the high speed rail network connecting London's St Pancras station and the Channel Tunnel, linking the English capital to Paris and Brussels.
It has been five years since it became fully operational and is one of the world's most reliable railways, with any delays averaging just six to eight seconds.
Network Rail operates and maintains the route, as well as managing three stations - St Pancras International, Stratford International and Ebbsfleet International.
The organisation's Group Finance Director Patrick Butcher said the new contract "offers our clients even better value" and allows customers to benefit from the "excellent partnership" that has already been established between the two groups.
