New £10m centre dedicated to low carbon vehicle research

Engineering firm Ricardo has been granted approval to construct a £10 million Vehicle Emissions Research Centre in Shoreham as it attempts to drive innovation in low carbon transport.The company says it has granted HORIBA UK the contract to construct and equip the facility, which will include the latest testing technologies as the experts focus on developing the next generation of low carbon vehicles.
Ricardo UK Ltd Managing Director Martin Fausset said: "The next generation of road vehicles need to be cleaner and more fuel efficient than ever before.
"The testing technology incorporated within this new state-of-the-art facility will help ensure that Ricardo stays at the forefront of this important area of research and development on a global basis."
Two vehicle test cells and advanced emissions monitoring equipment are set to be installed in the Centre as Ricardo sets about discovering ways to promote cleaner transport and tackle carbon output.
