Date: 25/5/2010
A campaign to encourage motorists not to drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs has been launched by a road safety organisation. The Fleet Safety Forum wants fleets to make sure staff are not breaking the law and has made posters and packs available to bosses to get the message across.
An advert showing a driver's face split in two has been created - on one side the face is normal and on the other it shows the effects of drink and drugs.
Managers may also want to download the e-guidance programmes, which show people how to recognise the tell-tale signs of drug abuse.
Research from road safety charity Brake revealed that 33 per cent of at-work motorists claimed they had got behind the wheel first thing in the morning after consuming alcoholic beverages the night before.
In addition, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents recently launched an initiative to encourage young individuals who drive in their jobs to stay safe behind the wheel.
Representatives from the establishment have created workshops and will visit workplaces to carry out training for those aged between 17 and 24.
