New Countdown Digital Sign service launched by TfL

Date: 3/6/2013
A new Countdown Digital Sign service has been unveiled by (TfL) Transport for London, with the technology capable of providing live bus arrival information in various public locations such as schools and hospital waiting rooms. The idea behind the scheme is that the hardware can be self-installed using existing equipment, with the display being directly linked to the internet as it gives people live details of bus stops in the surrounding area - and all at minimal cost.
Having been successfully trialled in four locations, TfL has said that introducing the technology on a wider scale will help to improve the passenger experience throughout London and make travelling by bus more convenient.
Simon Reed, Head of Technical Services Group at London Buses, said: "It will help our passengers' access real time bus information away from their local stop, which is especially helpful for those who may not have access to the internet or a smartphone."
