New group bids to improve public transport in York

New group bids to improve public transport in York

Date: 9/4/2013

Commuters, residents and visitors in York have been invited to join a new body that has been launched in a bid to improve the public transport network in the city.

As the York Press reports, the (BUSUG) Bus User Group was set up by the City of York Council and local bus operators, with people who travel on the routes being encouraged to have their say on the quality of the services.

The scheme will involve meetings being held throughout the year, during which members will give feedback and play a role in shaping the future of the city's transport policy.

Councillor Dave Merrett, the Council's Cabinet Member for Transport, said: "We will continue to consult on major schemes and initiatives, but this is an additional focus for us to listen and take on board what everyday passengers are experiencing."

As well as the BUSUG, there will also be a wider voluntary group for other residents to share their ideas on transport in the city.ADNFCR-2726-ID-801568567-ADNFCR
