New MOT reminder application launched

New MOT reminder application launched

Date: 15/6/2010

Motorists could save cash by registering their vehicles with a new MOT reminder service.

The Motor Codes MOT and Service online reminder application will make sure drivers do not forget when their annual car examination is due.

Director at the organisation Chris Mason said 23 million inspections are conducted every year and the new tool could save individuals cash.

"No one wants a £1,000 fine for something as simple as forgetting to take your car in for its MOT," he added.

According to Motor Codes, every year 767,000 Britons forget to get their automobiles checked over.

Families with more than one car can use the reminder too, as it can handle multiple vehicles that are due on different dates.

Mr Mason also noted drivers should have their yearly assessment carried out at a reputable garage.

Anyone who drives a vehicle that is at least three years old on the UK's roads needs to make sure it is in a roadworthy condition and the document checks motors meet environmental and road safety standards.
