New operating company to manage Forth Road Bridge

Date: 24/5/2013
The Scottish Parliament has passed a Bill to establish a new operating company that will be responsible for the management of the Forth Road Bridge project - as well as the new Forth Replacement Crossing and the surrounding roads.Staff from the existing organisation at the head of the scheme - FETA, the Forth Estuary Transport Authority - will transfer to the newly formed body, and the legislation will see a tendering process take place.
The initiative is expected to be completed in 2016, and Transport Minister Keith Brown emphasised the importance of pushing on with the project in order to guarantee its success.
"The Forth Road Bridge Bill is a step forward in managing the future of transport across the Firth of Forth," he said.
"We will now take forward a robust tendering process to ensure that the high quality of service delivered by the current operators FETA continues and is improved upon where possible."
