New marine accident and air accident chiefs appointed

A new chief inspector of marine accidents and head of the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) has been appointed by the Department for Transport.Steve Clinch is to take up the positions later this year when Stephen Meyer retires from the post after more than eight years in the role.
Mr Clinch is currently deputy chief inspector of marine accidents and has more than 30 years experience in the commercial shipping industry.
In his new role, Mr Clinch will be responsible for building on the MAIB's reputation for excellence in accident investigation.
He will also work to ensure the UK remains at the forefront of developing marine safety.
Another appointment has also been made by the Department for Transport today (February 15th), with Keith Conradi being selected as the next chief inspection of air accidents and the head of the Air Accidents Investigation Branch.
Mr Conradi is to take over from David King later this year.
