New parking spaces for Stafford train station

New parking spaces for Stafford train station

Date: 13/10/2009

Stafford railway station is to construct 272 new car parking spaces.

The development, which is expected to be completed in late 2010, will provide the station with 522 total spaces for cars.

Existing parking facilities will be disrupted from October 26th when work gets underway.

Sheila Breeze, Virgin Trains station manager for Stafford urged drivers to give themselves more time when coming to the station during the works.

Network Rail's route enhancement manager David Golding said: "More passengers are now travelling by train than ever before and the demand for rail travel is set to continue to rise.

"We need to increase the number of parking spaces to cater for this demand."

A shuttle bus service will run between the nearby Doxey Road car park and the station to help ease the problems while work is undertaken.

As well as car parking services, Stafford train station also has sheltered cycle storage for 20 bikes.
