Nissan LEAF's ICT wins GSMA award

Nissan LEAF's ICT wins GSMA award

Date: 16/2/2011

Nissan's electric vehicle the LEAF has picked up an award at the recent GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The Global Mobile Awards 2011 prize for the Best Mobile Innovation for Automotive and Transport was handed to the manufacturer for its information and communication technology system, Nissan Connect - which is powered by CARWINGS.

According to the car firm, the event was also a chance for organisations to showcase the latest mobile technology.

The Nissan LEAF was launched in Japan and the US in December of last year and will soon go on sale in Europe.

Owners of the car can enjoy greater convenience, comfort and security thanks to the ICT system - which can also be accessed through a dedicated website built for electric vehicle owners - the firm claims.

Nissan is currently working on the sports version of the LEAF, the ESFLOW, which will be unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show in March.
