No single solution to reducing car emissions, says Peugeot

Date: 24/11/2010
There is no single solution to reducing carbon emissions produced by cars and consumers need assistance in making eco-friendly vehicle choices, Peugeot has told MPs.The manufacturer presented the results of commissioned research carried out by Com Res to Westminster, which showed three-quarters of respondents are unable to say whether they drive a low-carbon car or not.
It also revealed almost 25 per cent of motorists do not understand the current emissions-weighted VED system.
Jon Goodman, Managing Director of Peugeot, said: "Our research shows that to reduce emissions effectively, we must enable the widest possible customer base to benefit from low-carbon technology."
He stated it is the responsibility of manufacturers and the government to help consumers make the right choices about electric vehicles.
Earlier this month, the Sunderland Echo reported a new project named Switch EV has been launched in the north-east that aims to promote eco cars and will see 35 new models made available to individuals and organisations.
