Northwood pupils get lesson on green cross code

Date: 21/2/2011

Four pupils from a school in Northwood were recently chosen to star in a video promoting the green cross code.

The Watford Observer reports that the four boys were pupils at St Martin's School, in Moor Park Road and were picked to show off their acting skills alongside Angellica Bell, a CBBC and One Show presenter.

Some modern-day road safety lessons were included in the film, which examined the 21st century green cross code, including the dangers of being distracted while on a mobile phone or listening to music on an MP3 player.

The new video was then shown to the entire school at a special assembly, where children were able to compare it with an older film.

Year six pupil and star of the movie Rahil Patel said: "It was great fun and an interesting experience which showed how films and television programmes are made."

Recent research from Admiral suggested that parents may be putting their children at risk by taking a "relaxed attitude" towards road safety.
