Nursery school encouraged to hold Beep Beep! Day

Date: 6/1/2012
Nursery schools and play groups are being encouraged to promote road safety by holding a Beep Beep! Day.Supported by the charity Brake, the events can run at any time and should attempt to raise awareness of staying safe while out and about to children under the age of eight.
This is the ninth year the campaign has taken place and 20,000 children took part in a Beep Beep! Day in 2011.
Fundraising Director at Brake Katie Shephard said: "It is never too young to start learning about road safety; for example learning key words such as 'stop' and the importance of holding hands."
Organisers will receive free resources to support their activities and some suggestions of things to do include making hand print posters, singing road safety songs and baking traffic light biscuits.
It seems it is not only children that need advice when it comes to road safety, as research recently conducted by the Post Office Car Insurance revealed 31 per cent of fathers speed when driving their offspring to school.
