One mistake on the road 'could have devastating consequences'

One mistake on the road 'could have devastating consequences'

Date: 31/8/2010

Just a single lapse in concentration while riding can be fatal, Yorkshire motorcyclists have been warned.

North Yorkshire's road safety partnership has launched a new YouTube channel of shocking videos called 95 Alive, according to the Northern Echo.

The short films use real examples of biking accidents to demonstrate the consequences of riding carelessly.

David Bowe, Chairman of the 95 Alive safety partnership, said: "The very simple message contained throughout the videos is that one small lapse in concentration, one small mistake, could have devastating consequences for you and your loved ones."

North Yorkshire's roads are among the most challenging for bikers in the UK, he continued, but people should be able to enjoy them for the right reasons.

Mr Bowe added he hopes the campaign will make motorcyclists ride more carefully.

Earlier this month, Peterborough Police cautioned off-road bikers that they are putting themselves and others in danger, according to the Peterborough Evening Telegraph.
