Over 100,000 vehicles registered with Van Excellence

Date: 21/3/2012
More than 100,000 vehicles and 100 operators are now covered by the Van Excellence scheme. The initiative, which was launched in 2010, aims to encourage high standards of van operation among fleet managers and establish an industry code of practice.
However, Head of Van and Light Commercial Vehicles at the Freight Transport Association Mark Cartwright explained the initiative's reach needs to be extended.
Currently, the average fleet size of the companies it covers is 1,000, therefore it wants to attract some smaller organisations.
"The Van Excellence marque is becoming a more frequent sight on accredited fleet vehicles as successful operators advertise their achievement," he added.
Currently, 24 fleets have received accreditation with Van Excellence, while 33 are going through the audit process.
Among the benefits it claims to deliver to firms are improved safety for drivers, legal compliance and recognition from both the industry and consumers of a company's high operating standards.
