Oyster card top ups extended to South West Trains

Date: 12/11/2010
Passengers who commute to London from the south-west will be able to top up their Oyster cards at an extended number of stations under new proposals announced today (November 12th).Transport Minister Theresa Villiers revealed a new agreement between the government and South West Trains that will allow people to load up their cards at all stations operated by the company in the London Travelcard area from May 2011.
She said the move will make it easier for people to pay, adding: "This is great news for all passengers travelling on the capital's rail network, especially thousands of commuters who use South West Trains before transferring to the London Underground."
Andy Pitt, Managing Director of the rail operator, described the plans as a "significant improvement" that will give commuters more choice.
Ms Villiers toured Merseyside's train and underground network earlier this week, stating the coalition is committed to improving conditions for rail users in north-west England.
