Date: 7/6/2010
Renault has highlighted the steps it is taking to improve sustainability and reduce the company's effect on the environment. The manufacturer notes that is has been working for a number of years to reduce CO2 emissions, but other measures are being taken to help limit the company's impact on the environment.
In particular, steps have been taken to limit a vehicle's impact at every stage of its lifecycle, from design, through the manufacturing and driving stages, to disposal.
Indeed, Renault claims to have become a major player in France for the recovery and recycling of materials used in cars.
The manufacturer is taking further action to improve its sustainability, focusing on developing electric vehicles. Through its partnership with Nissan, Renault is investing some 4 billion (£3.3 billion) in a zero emissions programme.
Both public and commercial vehicles are being targeted by Renault in its drive to reduce carbon emissions.
Other manufacturers are also taking steps to reduce emissions, although approaches to this issue do vary.
