The rail tender to link Iran's south-east port of Chabahar to the national rail network has been granted to the Revolutionary Guards.
The route would link the country's tax-free port with the rest of the country and is expected to be worth over £1 billion ($2.5 billion)
Operating as Khatam-ol Anbiya Construction Headquarters, Iran's Revolutionary Guards are thought to own a third of Iran's economy through a series of affiliated subsidiaries and trusts and employs some 125,000 active troops.
The project is reportedly set to be built in three phases, according to the Tehran Times, and will move 20 million tons a year at capacity.
