Road safety campaign launched in Bradford

Date: 9/8/2010
A campaign to promote road safety awareness has been approved by Bradford Council.According to the Bradford Telegraph and Argus, the scheme will involve handing out leaflets with information on keeping young children safe, wearing a seat belt and using car seats.
The council's road safety team will work with neighbourhood wardens and West Yorkshire Police to make door-to-door visits to residents in the Manningham and city wards throughout August.
Officers and wardens will also give out 'slow down' wheelie bin stickers and a DVD demonstrating the importance of wearing a seat belt.
Councillor Nazam Azam said: "It is a great initiative providing safety, especially among children and the timing is perfect as well as the summer holidays have just started."
The government recently published figures showing the number of deaths caused by drink-driving fell by five per cent in 2009.
Furthermore, the number of seriously injured casualties decreased by nine per cent.
