Road safety campaign launched in Brighton and Hove

Date: 9/11/2010
Road users have been encouraged to look out for others in a new safety campaign launched in Brighton and Hove. The Press Association reports posters were put up yesterday (November 8th) featuring residents walking, cycling and driving into the city, in order to represent real transport use.
With the aim of reducing the number of accidents on busy streets London Road and Lewes Road, the scheme urges people to look out for others and be safe.
Geoffrey Theobald, the district's Cabinet Member for Environment, said: "By raising awareness of different road users we aim to change the attitudes and behaviours that cause collisions and encourage good road safety habits, so everyone is safe."
Recently, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents warned drivers and motorcyclists to look out for more vulnerable people such as cyclists and pedestrians in the dark, due to the clocks being turned back by one hour.
