Road safety event held at Riverside College

Road safety advice has been dished out to students at Riverside College in Halton.Patrol Officer from the Highways Agency Rob Potter visited the academic institute to tell pupils about the moment he was hit by a drunk driver, Runcorn and Widnes Weekly News reports.
Mr Potter told the youngsters his life has changed since the incident.
The event covered a range of other road safety issues, including young people travelling with new drivers, while the importance of using seatbelts and not talking on a mobile phone when behind the wheel were also highlighted.
Officers from Cheshire Fire and Rescue and Cheshire Police were also on hand to bring home the message and they reinforced the dangers that come with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Chester First recently reported on a scheme set up to teach youngsters how to cross the road safely and a number of experts visited schools across Chester to advise them on the safest ways to get to the other side.
